Fourteen wildfires in eight northern California counties had burned more than 57,000 acres in the last 12 hours, said California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) spokesman Daniel Berlant.
The CHP reports they have had to rescue 42 people so far because of the fires. The city has been concerned about the Browns Valley area in the west and the Alta Heights area in the east and has bulldozers helping to put in fire lines.
The Cascade Fire in Yuba and Butte counties has burned 5,000 acres and prompted multiple evacuations in the communities of Loma Rica and Browns Valley, about 20 miles northeast of Yuba City. The Sonoma County Fairgrounds is open for people with large animals; access the fairgrounds via Gate 7 on Aston Avenue.
"Our neighbor called and told us the sheriff had come - we had to evacuate now", he said.
Cal Fire is keeping track of three other fires in Napa, Sonoma and Lake Counties.
Authorities have implemented forced evacuations in several rural neighborhoods and worked to clear out hospitals and senior centers in northwestern Santa Rosa.
"Everyone in Sonoma County is spread out fighting these fires, but they don't have enough resources to handle something like this".
In southern California, a fast-moving wildfire in Anaheim is forcing some evacuations.

The Cal Fire service confirmed the Tubbs fire of Napa Valley has burned 20,000 acres of land in total, while the Nuns fire of Sonoma has destroyed 300 acres.
