Some people have suggested Apple may be guilty of this, with reports that as soon as a new model is out, older handsets stop functioning as well as they had done.
The data came from Furturemark's free benchmarking app, 3DMark. The company collated data from more than 100,000 benchmarking tests done on iPhone variants starting from iPhone 5S to the iPhone 7. The performance variations were essentially nonexistent, the release said, reporting only "minor variations that fall well within normal levels", for both CPU and GPU.
Users of the newer iTunes 12.7 can still install the App Store-friendly version, but may need to create a new iTunes library due to the incompatibility of your current iTunes library with the older version. "The reason the new emoji will remain invisible to most users is that the icons are yet to make their way to the official version of iOS and other operating systems".

The performance-tracking experts crunched the numbers in their database, based on real-world tests, comparing the iPhone 5S across iOS 9, iOS 10, and iOS 11 stretching back to April 2016.
Futuremark says the perception an older iPhone is slowing down is added to by a psychological effect.
