Heat's Winslow fined for intentionally stepping on Embiid's mask in Game 3

"The Phantom of the Process" made his dramatic playoff debut Thursday when Joel Embiid was cleared to play in Game 3 of his 76ers' first-round series against the Heat.

As indestructible as the mask's components proved to be - Miami's Justice Winslow purposefully stepped on the goggles portion when it popped off to no avail - The Inquirer's Keith Pompey reported Embiid had to use three different masks during the course of the game as the protective gear suffered damages significant enough to warrant replacements. Game 3 marked his first appearance of the series, and he scored 23 points in the Sixers' 128-108 win. After Game 3 of the teams' playoff series on Thursday night, that rivalry took a very large step forward.

Game 4 is on Saturday afternoon in Miami.

A dunk by Hassan Whiteside and a jumper by James Johnson got the Heat within 105-99 with 8:12 left.

For those of you who missed it, here is a condensed version of what he told reporters on the scene in Miami, with the more standard parts of the conversation removed to get straight to the point.

"I want to get more minutes out there", Whiteside said. "I would not have fouled out". But, on average, his minutes per game are down seven minutes from last season and even more in the playoffs.

"I'm trying to figure that out right now", Whiteside said Thursday.
He gets the ball, he gets the post up every other play. After years of horrendous records amid a major teardown and rebuild effort, the 76ers have looked like the best team in the league during the past month.

FAA orders more engine inspections after Southwest accident
Whether the proposed FAA rule, had it been implemented, would have detected damage to the fan blade that failed is not known. The FAA order adds to the scrutiny of the CFM56-7B, the type of engine that blew up on Southwest Flight 1380 on Tuesday.

Trump lawyer seeks to halt quick review of materials in Federal Bureau of Investigation raid
Sources familiar with the search warrants tell CBS News the documents mentioned President Trump's name several times .... Clifford's lawyer, Michael Avenatti, was in the audience for the court session and asked the judge to be heard at 2 p.m.

As a team, the Sixers drilled 18-of-33 shots from three, much like their long range barrage in Game 1 that lifted them to a 130-103 victory.

Dario Saric and Marco Belinelli combined to score 42 points while Ben Simmons finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for Philadelphia in front of a crowd of 19,800 at Miami's American Airlines Arena. The Sixers led by four points after one, but the Heat led by a point at halftime.

"It was annoying", Embiid said, "but that was the only way I could play in this game, was if I was going to wear the mask and protect my face with the goggles".

Goran Dragic was the scoring leader for the Heat, totaling 23 points and eight assists. Wade also contributed seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals while shooting 11-for-16 from the floor in 26 minutes of action.

But there was controversy in the second quarter of the game after his mask fell off and onto the court. I can not figure out how Philadelphia got called for 30 fouls to only 26 for Miami considering how Miami tried to play Philadelphia so physical and grabbed all evening.

So he wants to make sure his squad welcomes that style of play and handles it with maturity.
