Apple Says iOS 11 is Now Installed on 76% of iOS Devices

Thursday, 26 Apr, 2018

Apple has issued an update to the iPhone and iPad in the form of iOS 11.3.1 that fixes an issue with the iPhone 8. More features should see the light of day in the coming months as well.

"Note: Non-genuine replacement displays may have compromised visual quality and may fail to work correctly", reads its release notes. It is also being reported that Apple is trying to bring changes in order to end the "Right to Repair" that could ban the users from using any kind of third-party service for replacement of parts or even service or fix.

When Apple pulled a similar stunt in 2016, with Touch ID, it nearly had a legitimate excuse, that of security.

Apple has updated their Developer portal to show new data regarding the installation of iOS 11.

APPLE HAS PUSHED OUT an update that fixes touchscreen borkage on iPhone 8 handsets that have undergone third-party screen replacements. The bugs were spotted after the release of the iOS 11.3 update. Apple's patch notes specify two things: security and an issue affecting iPhone 8 devices with unauthorized third party screen replacements. From Settings, tap the General tab and Software Update respectively to unlock the update. You need to connect your device to a secure Wifi connection before downloading the update. Version 11.3.1 is quite small, but the update contains some important bug fixes and performance improvements.

To download the new security update on your macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 running machine, launch the App Store and then find the latest macOS update from the Updates section (or directly by going to this link from your Mac device).

The app is available as a free download for iPhone and iPad with no in-app purchase required to unlock its full potential.
