The Facebook-owned Instagram is all set to introduce its in-app payments feature which will allow users to make purchase of their desired products without leaving the app. Along with support for in-line video playback, there is also a Picture-in-picture mode which allows users to minimise the video while performing other functions within WhatsApp.

The new WhatsApp update comes with version 2.18.51. This means that today, combined side YouTube videos, iPhone users may view Instagram and face book videos directly within their whats app conversation too.

In addition, the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS includes a redesigned registration menu for Europe-specific users, and now asks registrants if they are over 16 years of age.

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging application in the world. For now, the feature is only available to select users in US and United Kingdom and only a few partners can access it. Once the in-app payments feature is expanded to more businesses, it could encourage many business profiles to give users the option to purchase their products or services directly via Instagram. After this, the video will start playing in chat itself. Since Facebook acquired WhatsApp for a whopping $19 billion in 2014, it was unclear how the company planned to recover the massive investment.

The launch in the United Kingdom follows a small-scale beta trial with Marks & Spencer, Heidi Klein and Mahabis. This feature conforms to that plan but also adds native payments to make the experience more seamless. This feature was rolled out to Android beta users last week and should roll-out to non-beta users soon.
