National Basketball Association play-offs: Cavaliers beat Raptors to reach Eastern Conference finals

Wednesday, 09 May, 2018

The Raptors will need a bounce-back performance from sluggish superstar Demar Derozan to have a chance in Game 4. James ended up scoring at will while also picking apart Toronto's coverages to the tune of 11 assists a game.

LeBron James scored 29 points as Cleveland Cavaliers secured a 4-0 series win over Toronto Raptors and ensure their place in the NBA Eastern Conference finals. And that could spell trouble for whichever team faces the Cavs in the Eastern Conference Finals.

"I trust every shot that I'm gonna take because I work on every shot", James added.

"I ran out of words a while ago", said Kyle Korver.

"It's disappointing", he added. "You nearly do expect it to go in". "But you don't want to go down that way, let go of the rope".

LeBron did control the series against Toronto, of course. It broke LeBron James' streak of winning 11 straight closeout games and came against a team that was a lower seed. And James delivered the dagger with a majestic off-balance buzzer-beater in Game 3 as the Cavs held off one Raptor comeback after another.

"It's life", said the Raptors guard. I think we have a group of guys that are warriors.

"It was a great series for us", James said afterwards. But it's LeBron James we're talking about. Cleveland's hopes came true in Game 3 as DeRozan was 3-of-12 from the field. Kevin Love, who has re-established his superstar credentials, was again his wingman with 23.

Jonas Valanciunas was a notable beacon of resistance, providing 18 points off the bench.

29/11/9 - Although MVP voters seem to every season, you can never get exhausted of LeBron's greatness, especially if you're a Cavs fan.

James was the only starter to see action, playing 4:22. The Cleveland Cavaliers aren't almost finished. The only team in the league that won more was Houston. But it was the same old story in the post-season with no answers for James and the Cavaliers.

And as rumors swirl about Casey's future, Lue said Toronto would be foolish to do anything rash.

With the Cavs sweeping the Raptors and advancing to the Conference Finals for the fourth consecutive season, Cavs.com dissects some Cavs' digits from their Second Round victory in this installment of, "By the Numbers" presented by FanDuel.

We're not here to discuss how the Cavs ripped Toronto's chest and pulled its heart out, though.

For the second game in a row, Casey changed his starting lineup. For good measure, LeBron has reached double figures in rebounds in six of the 10. Although, the Celtics have proven doubters wrong all season, so it's probably unwise to bet against them at this point. DeRozan had seven in the first quarter.

Then it got ugly.

On the official play-by-play sheet, James' shot was listed as: "L.James 10' Driving Bank Shot".

History was not on Toronto's side. Of the 130 teams to take a 3-0, all of them have won the series.

For a brief moment Saturday night, thanks to a late three-pointer by rookie OG Anunoby, the Raptors got one hand out of the playoff hole they had dug themselves.

"This year it was a big disappointment because we did so well in the regular season".

He was just what coach Brett Brown needed in a must-win game. "We haven't got to where our ultimate goal is". And if they do, Casey deserves to be a part of it.

Unsurprisingly, another person receiving a lot of criticism is head coach Dwane Casey.
