DAZN will also be the exclusive U.S. broadcast partner for Matchroom's existing 16 fight nights in the UK.

Matchroom will also offer a different type of fan experience: Its 16 US fights per year will never be on pay-per-view and the undercard will be filled with a long list of fights, a strategy the company uses in the United Kingdom which makes live attendance more appealing.

Perform Group, meanwhile, has three main businesses-a content group that buys and distributes data and media rights, a media group that operates websites like Goal.com and SportingNews.com and DAZN, which bills itself as the Netflix of live sports. None of the fight nights will be on PPV, all will be available for one monthly fee and no long term contract.

Hearn said: 'There will be no pay-per-view on this channel, this is one of the models behind this. As it prepares to bring DAZN to America, Perform this week named former ESPN President John Skipper its new executive chairman.

Thursday's event was organized to tout the financial investment that would help Hearn attract boxers and make a statement.

DAZN, little known in Europe outside the industry, has worked closely with Matchroom for more than 10 years, mainly in Japan, Germany and Canada. Matchroom is Hearn's company and it's clear he's making it a major player in U.S. boxing.

The new venture was announced by Eddie Hearn, Managing Director of Matchroom Boxing, and Simon Denyer, CEO of Perform Group at a press conference in NY.
