The Blues have confirmed that they have activated Spain worldwide Kepa Arrizabalaga's release clause of £71 million to sign him from LaLiga side Athletic Bilbao.

Atletico supporters have hit out at Courtois following his £35million move to Real Madrid from Chelsea, having previously spent three seasons on loan with Atletico. "I'm going to discuss that with the club at the right time". I'm really happy to be here and looking forward to joining them.

Kovacic will join Chelsea on loan until June 30, 2019 as part of the deal, with the Croatia worldwide spending a season away from the club he joined from Inter Milan in 2015.

His form caught Real Madrid's attention but mounting transfer speculation culminated in him signing a seven-and-a-half-year contract extension at San Mames in January.

Chelsea were unwilling to part ways with Courtois unless they had an immediate, suitable replacement lined up, but made the move to let their Belgian leave and get the Kepa deal over the line before the start of deadline day.

"There won't be additional pressure one me".

Olivier Giroud has mixed feelings about Chelsea's transfer window, which will likely see Thibaut Courtois depart for Real Madrid but Eden Hazard resist the lure of the Spanish capital. "I've come here to give my all and it's down to the coach to decide". While the £71m transfer fee may appear exorbitant, constituting a record fee for the club and a world record for a goalkeeper, it may not be as astronomical as first meets the eye. Chelsea has made a great bet in taking me in.

As often happens, though, that only succeeded in raising his value rather than securing his long-term future, and Kepa is now the world's most expensive goalkeeper. "I just hope I can adjust and adapt as soon as possible but we are all different". The Belgium goalkeeper was the victor of the Golden Glove award at the Russian Federation 2018 Fifa World Cup. "I am a player who demands a lot from myself".
